David W. Manuel, Chief of Police

         Chief David Manuel comes to the Maitland Police Department

from the UCF Police Department. Chief Manuel began his law

enforcement career by joining the Maitland Police Department

in 1990 as a Patrol Officer. He subsequently served as Police

Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, Police Commander, and Deputy Chief.

His commendations include Police Officer of the Year in 1991, 1992,

and 1994; the Life Saving Award in 1990; and the Valor Award in 1992.

From 1998 through 2005, he oversaw the Police Department’s SWAT

Team in the role of Commander.

         Chief Manuel is a graduate of Lake Howell High School, the United

States Army Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Class of 1983,

Seminole Community College Law Enforcement Academy, the Southern

Police Institute at the University of Louisville, and the FBI National

Academy (N.A. 245).
